From kids event planner earning peanuts to planning major corporate events and social events for high net-worth clients within 5 years.

This is my story

I relocated to Nigeria in 2008 from the UK after a long career in Events and Training at BBC London. I always had a love for themed events. I planned my own wedding with an Igbo/ Western Theme. It was a mixture of both cultures infused at the event.

I started my events planning journey in Lagos in 2010 after a successful Pop Idol themed birthday party for my daughter’s 10th.  Before I knew it I was hosting parties for ”ajebutar” kids from  St Saviors, CIS, Greensprings and Chrisland just to mention a few. I was not only the event planner but I was the kid’s entertainer and MC.

Included in the event package was full entertainment, a themed backdrop, red carpet experience, judges placards and a personalized magazine for the Celebrant.

My fees were ridiculously low and without much business savvyness , I found myself planning and hosting birthday parties events for kids from the elite Lagos: but charging next to nothing.  Peanuts!!!

I had to face some tough questions.

Was this a hobby or a business?

And if it was a business how would I scale up in order to make it profitable?

My aha moment came in 2012 and I share stories of my journey and the changes I made on my new online course platform.

How about you? Have you scaled up in the last 5 to 10 years in your job or business? Are you satisfied with where you are? Has your salary or revenues tripled or are you hoping that one day your story will be different?
