So the world is under attack by Covid 19 and many are feeling anxious, scared and worried. Some people are bankrupt because they have literally lost all their livelihood overnight. But there is hope! Currently, scientists across the world are doing all they can to find a vaccine or cure. So let’s keep praying for a speedy discovery. While we wait, here are some ways you can stay positive, even during Covid 19 times.

Pray and Meditate

Prayer releases anxiety and brings peace of mind especially in challenging times. A passage that helps me in this season is Psalm 91. I recorded it on voice note and listen to it daily.  You can actually personalize this psalm like this.  ‘’I, RiRi Okoye dwell in the shelter of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘’He is my refuge and my fortress, surely. He will save me from the fowler’s snare and deadly pestilence.’’

Practice Gratitude

Constantly being grateful in this season will help you stay positive. If you’re feeling stuck at home, think about those that don’t have a home in this season. Being grateful makes you happier, nicer to be around, eliminates, envy and increases your self-esteem. What are you grateful for?

Recite Affirmations Daily

Affirmations are very powerful and a way of staying positive. Do you know that what you focus on you become? You have to be mindful of what you say to yourself in this season. Here are a few affirmations for this season.

I am well

I have a clear nose, clear throat and clear chest

I am fit and strong

I have a great immune system

I have a sound mind

Guard Your Thoughts

And that includes guarding all the junk and fake news you may be receiving in this season. You can mute Whatsapp groups or unfollow negative Facebook pages which share negative news and only go to them when you need to. You don’t have to consume yourself with 24/7 news  either, unless you want to kill your positive energy.

Find Joy In Every Moment

Even in this lock down season you can find joy. Stepping outside and just appreciating the birds and the breeze can bring instant joy.

Appreciate your life because as we know it can  be taken away in a blink of an eye because of this virus.

Record Uplifting Thoughts

If there was ever a time to start journaling now is the time because it will help you stay positive. Here are a few suggestions; Write your dreams, prayers, affirmations, business ideas, bucket lists, poetry, songs, memories, inspirational quotes, life goals and life lessons.

Have A Daily Routine

Daily routines will help you stay positive  as it will give you things to concentrate on. It will stop you from feeling anxious as you focus on your daily goals. You will also get through more in the day. If you stick to your routine during the day it will give you tremendous satisfaction by evening.

Exercise

The benefits of exercise are so important especially in this season. It helps you feel good as well as helps weight control. It doesn’t have to be anything vigorous. If you have a large space like your back garden find 30 minutes twice a day to do light exercise.  It will increase your positive energy and help you sleep deeply at night.

Sing A Song

Do you know that singing lowers stress levels and is a natural anti-depressant? ‘’He’s got the whole world in his hands’’ is a song challenge led by Tyler Perry currently for this season. Even if you cant sing like Mariah, singing really does increase your positive energy.

Dance

I am a big fan of dancing. Every opportunity that I get I tune into DJ Blox when he’s live on Instagram or I dance to old school tunes on you-tube in the evening. It’s so important to keep the body active during lock down season.

Random Acts of Kindness

Finally, it’s understandable to be very concerned about the Covid19  but rather than dwell on what you have no control over, this is a time to reach out to others. It doesn’t always have to be monetary. A call is most appreciative especially to those that live on their own. I challenge you to go through your contacts in your spare time and reach out to 5 people and ask them how they are doing in this season.
